Pre-Park Eating Adventure

The night before my maternal family descended upon Disneyland in matching neon-green polo shirts, an easy-to-spot gaggle of weary folks, we feasted on snacks that my mother had found and purchased. If you know her sense of humor and adventure, you won't be surprised by the snacks.

I told her months ago when she bought these snacks that I would eat them with her, and could be sure that Norm would dine as well, but that we might have to convince Dan through peer pressure or haggling or whatever. Peer pressure, normally a bad thing, had less effect than Dan proving that along with being the most chivalrous gentleman anywhere, he's also quite a badass. He acquiesced, and here we are, getting ready to eat:

Here we are, right after the first bite:

Here's the best of the three flavors we had:

Grasshoppers, at least these things, aren't that bad, but they also weren't that great. These were old and dried out. It was a mix between chewing the shells from sunflower seeds--without the kernel--and pork rinds. The look on my face is because my throat is being scratched by bits of thorax.

The Salt and Vinegar was the best entry. The other two, Bacon and Cheddar and Sour Cream and Onion, tasted like outdated Doritos.

Overall, they were wholly unsatisfying. I think we're all better for trying them.

Later on that night, we had a few discussions about quinine and pine over quinine and pine, and eventually Norm and I decided that an early visit to the park, in the wee hours of the day as it were at the time, was a perfectly reasonable plan of action. Thankfully, Corrie was there to show us the error of our logic.
