The Boswash Corridor

Boswash as a name comes from "Boston-Washington", one of the many population corridors across the globe.

This is the Boswash Corridor. 95% of commerce on the east coast happens here, and something like 80% of the east coast population resides here. Stretching from Portland, Maine down to Arlington, Virginia in the outskirts of Washington DC, the corridor accounts for (California notwithstanding) the political, entertainment, educational, and artistic aorta of the country.

But examine the states attached to it. Besides Virginia, which is marginally involved, you've got Pennsylvania, Jersey, Maryland, New York, and some New England states (Conn., Mass., RI, Maine). New York is the largest land-mass in the North Atlantic area.

I like maps that don't use the common conceptual orientations of north and south. I'll reference this map in my next post.
