Everybody has little things that get under their skin, that bother them...like common mispronunciations...I guess that's one for me as well.
But I have an example of one thing that bugs me. It's a new set of things, and one that's probably shared by us snooty New Yorkers, but still...
This is a movie poster for a currently-new remake, of the same name, with Denzel Washington as the transit-cop and John Travolta as the bad-guy, for the film (obviously) titled The Taking of Pelham 123.
Remakes do bother me, to a degree, but here, the thing that bothers me is the fact that the 1, 2, and 3 trains do not go to Pelham.
The 1, 2, and 3 trains run along the west-side of Manhattan, with the 1 being local and the 2 and 3 running express in Manhattan. The 2 and 3 both start in Brooklyn, running through Manhattan, where the 3 ends and the 2 continues on far into the Bronx; the 1 starts at the South (Staten Island) Ferry in Manhattan, and runs way up into the Bronx as well.
Pelham is an area in the northeastern Bronx, serviced by only the 6 train. There is the largest park in New York City in the area, the Pelham Bay Park, that has crazy views you wouldn't guess were technically in New York City like this:
